2010 ASMB Meeting

Celebrating 10 years of ECM Connections!

Please join us for the 10 year anniversary Biennial Meeting of the American Society for Matrix Biology. The meeting is set to be held October 24–27, 2010 in beautiful Charleston, SC. The Francis Marion Hotel will be providing the accomodations and meeting space and we are certain you will enjoy the charm of this prime location.

Our Meeting Chair, Jean Schwarzbauer, has put together an amazing program and updates are added regularly. You should have received the "Save The Date" postcard already and we look forward to mailing out our "Call for Abstracts" in March 2010.

Scientific Program:

The program committee, lead by Jean Schwarzbauer, has put together a tremendous program for 2010. All of the invited speakers have been confirmed including plenary speakers Mina Bissell, Richard Hynes, Martin Hemler, Doug DeSimone, Rosa Serra, David Roberts and Steven Shapiro. There are 19 wonderful Concurrent Session Chairs and Speakers as well as over 55 selected talks to be determined from the submitted abstracts. SFG, TERMIS and ISMB will have special sessions which will offer some excellent additions to the scientific program. ASMB is pleased to annouce our Senior and Junior Investigator Awardees who will present at the meeting - Senior Investigator Awardee: benoit de Crombrugghe, U.T.M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, TX and Junior Investigator Awardee: Pyong Woo Park, Children's Hospital at Harvard, MA. Registration refunds will be provided minus a $50 cancellation fee for refund requests received in writing prior to September 1, 2010. No refunds can be given after this date. Travel and accommodation cancellations remain the sole responsibility of the individual.

Abstract Information:

Regular abstract submission will open March of 2010. You must register for the meeting prior to submitting an abstract. Many new features of abstract submission include the ability to apply for student travel awards and indicate oral vs poster preferences. Abstract submission will close on August 1, 2010. We will also hold a late braking abstract submission period from August 15 - September 15, 2010. These submissions are not eligible for awards or oral presentation but will be considered for poster presentation. Please check back for more details.

Accommodations:

Accommodations will be provided by the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, SC. ASMB has secured a group rate of $154 per night at this historic hotel. Please follow the link below to make your reservations online. Rooms must be reserved by September 24, 2010 in order to receive the group rate.

 

Travel Awards:

You may apply for travel award consideration when submitting your abstract via the "travel award" check box. Five (5) abstracts will be pre-selected and assigned Selected Talk slots (notification via email by September 1, 2010). Five (5) additional abstracts will be selected on site based on poster presentation and announced at the conference banquet. Minority Scholarships:

ASMB is pleased to offer a limited number of minority scholarships to cover registration for the 2010 Meeting. During the registration process, there is an option to apply for this scholarship. Complete the registration process including registration fee payment and you will be contacted regarding your application for scholarship. Recipients will be given a refund of their registration fee provided via the original source of payment.
