Zakir Bengali, Ph.D., the former SRA of the Pathobiochemistry Study Section will be retiring from NIH on June 1.
During his tenure of 25 year in the extramural program of NIH, he has diligently served the Extracellular Matrix community, both as a Program Administrator in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and as an SRA.
Zakir was instrumental in helping to establish the ASMB and was a member of its founding Committee. We are very excited to report that Zakir has been appointed as the Corporate Director of Research for the Shriners Hospitals for Children at their headquarters in Tampa. He is starting in this position on the day of his retirement from NIH.
His new e-mail address is: Zbengali@shrinenet.org.
We look forward to continued interactions with Zakir and seeing him at our meeting in November.
BEST OF LUCK, ZAKIR!
