Late Breaking Abstract Submissions

Abstracts submitted during the Late-Breaking time period of August 2-27 will be considered for poster presentations only. Applicants must first register for the meeting and then submit an abstract. Acceptance of late breaking abstracts for poster presentations will be sent on a rolling basis.

Will there be an in-person poster session?

ASMB is pleased to offer both in-person and virtual poster presentations this year.  Everyone is encouraged to present their poster in-person. Please indicate you wish to do this when you submit your abstract. All poster presenters will be asked to upload an image of their poster to the meeting app.   A 3-5 minute audio recording of the presentation may be included.  Virtual poster presentations must be submitted in advance of the meeting. (Due date is August 16 for regular submissions, August 30 for late breaking posters.)  The virtual poster session will be available on-line to registered attendees only.  Meeting attendees are invited to preview posters on-line in advance or at the meeting.  In-person poster presentations will be indicated in the meeting app and program.  This hybrid format for poster presentations is intended to allow more time to view posters in advance of the scheduled in-person poster sessions. We hope that this will allow the in-person sessions to be more focused around question/answer and more easily in compliance with social distancing guidelines. All meeting registrants with accepted abstracts will receive specific instructions about the poster sessions as well as an invitation to upload their posters to the meeting app.

What is virtual registration?

Due to the unusual circumstances this year, ASMB recognizes that not everyone who would like to attend in-person will be able to do so. We are pleased to be able to offer a virtual registration option at a reduced cost.  This option includes the virtual poster session and live access to all Plenary Sessions, the Sunday evening award sessions and Keynote. Recordings of these sessions will also be made available to registered attendees after the meeting. Virtual participants are eligible to submit abstracts and to participate in the virtual poster session. (The virtual poster session will be pre-recorded and posted on-line for all registrants (virtual and in-person.) Virtual participants will not be eligible to present selected short talks in the Concurrent Sessions.

What is a virtual "lab" registration?

PIs can select a “Lab Registration” option if there are multiple members of a lab who wish to attend virtually.  (Note this registration option will not appear for students.)  Only one abstract can be submitted with a Lab Registration. If multiple lab members wish to submit abstracts and participate in the virtual poster session, individual registrations should be selected.

What if my institution has not yet lifted travel restrictions but I want to register for the meeting?

ASMB understands that many institutions still have travel restrictions in place. We encourage you to register for the meeting with your best assessment of your ability to attend in September. ASMB has expanded the registration refund policy to allow for unforeseen changes and will honor any earnest request for a refund, provided in writing in advance of the meeting. (Hotel and travel cancellations/refunds are the sole responsibility of the individual.)
