ASMB Election Results Meet the New Council Members

President-elect: Doug Gould has been elected President-Elect of the American Society for Matrix Biology. He is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Professor of Anatomy at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Doug is a former ASMB Council member and has been deeply engaged in the Society’s activities, including serving as a co-organizer of the Basement Membrane workshops and participating as an invited speaker. A long-standing and active member of the ASMB community, Doug brings both leadership experience and a strong commitment to advancing matrix biology. We are delighted to welcome him to this new role.

Secretary-Treasurer: Karen (Shea) Posey has been re-elected as Secretary-Treasurer of ASMB. During her first term, Shea successfully and thoughtfully managed the Society’s finances, providing steady leadership in this critical role. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and a long-standing, active member of the ASMB matrix biology community. We are grateful for her continued service and pleased to welcome her to a second term. |

Council: Carmen Halabi is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. New to the ASMB Council, Carmen brings clinical and academic leadership experience to the Society. We are pleased to welcome her and look forward to her contributions to the Council and the broader matrix biology community. |

Council: Roy Zent has worked in the field of extracellular matrix biology and its receptors for more than 30 years. An active member of the American Society for Matrix Biology since its founding, Roy has played a key role in the Society’s scientific programming, including organizing several ASMB Basement Membrane workshops. He brings exceptional depth of experience to the Council, and we are delighted to welcome him. |
